Lost Language, Vowels
Anyone interested in knowledge or treasure will have heard of Kycela’s famous lost language. Ancient and mysterious, there are 26 letters that were seemingly lost to time. Independent scholars, in a race to best each other, have effectively confirmed the vowels for us before play begins. That means the letters A, E, I, O and U, as well as Y just to make our lives a bit easier.
You know that such runes are capable of amazing feats of magic, but sadly the reason the vowels were eventually able to be discerned is because they’re useless on their own. They each represent a form of connection, a path to link the consonants to each other. It’s those missing 20 letters that hold the real power, and when combined into longer strings of characters, their power could well be indescribable. Most assume that the language is responsible for the gods themselves not being able to interact with Kycela, and the rise of its own unique demigods in their place. Certainly, the global pantheon has a vested interest in discovering this language and bringing the continent back into the fold.
